Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the FGr4D and FGr4S?
The FGr4D is the enhanced version: it has dual built-in antennas (vs the FGr4S single antenna), IPX6 nano waterproof coating, BVD battery voltage detection, and four Newport flexible interfaces supporting i-BUS2. The FGr4S is the classic compact version without these additions. Choose the FGr4D for wet environments, longer range builds, or when you need i-BUS2 telemetry.
What does IPX6 nano waterproof mean?
IPX6 nano waterproofing means the FGr4D's circuit board has been treated with a nano-coating that protects against water splashes and light rain. It is suitable for RC car and boat use in wet conditions. IPX6 is not submersion-proof — avoid prolonged immersion in water.
What is i-BUS2 and how does it differ from i-BUS?
i-BUS2 is Flysky's updated serial bus protocol that supports bidirectional communication, enabling telemetry data (such as battery voltage via BVD) to be sent back to the transmitter in real time. Standard i-BUS is a one-way serial protocol for channel data only. i-BUS2 requires a compatible AFHDS 3 transmitter.
Can I configure each Newport port independently?
Yes. The FGr4D has four Newport interfaces, each of which can be individually configured as i-BUS2, S.BUS, i-BUS, or PPM output via the transmitter menu. This gives you the flexibility to connect different peripherals to different ports simultaneously.
Which transmitters are compatible with the FGr4D?
The FGr4D is compatible with all Flysky AFHDS 3 transmitters and RF modules, including PL18, PL18 EV, Paladin EV, NB4, NB4 Lite, NB4 Pro+, NB4+, and PA01. Any transmitter or module supporting the AFHDS 3 protocol can bind with the FGr4D.
