What is the difference between the FS-i6 Nova and the original FS-i6 or FS-i6X?
The FS-i6 Nova is a next-generation evolution of the classic FS-i6 platform. Compared to the original FS-i6, the Nova adds 10 channels (vs 6 on the original), 135 model memory (vs 20), a USB Type-C multi-function port, dual power options (AA batteries or 2S Li-ion pack), wireless trainer support via the FS-WTM01 module, and simulator compatibility via USB. Compared to the FS-i6X, the Nova adds USB Type-C connectivity, dual antenna design (PCB + tube), wireless trainer support, and comes in ten color options. All three models use AFHDS 2A protocol and are compatible with the same pool of AFHDS 2A receivers.
What receivers are compatible with the FS-i6 Nova?
The FS-i6 Nova uses AFHDS 2A protocol and is compatible with all Flysky AFHDS 2A receivers. Recommended options include the FS-iA6B (6-channel with i-BUS output) and the FS-iA10B (10-channel, required to use all 10 channels of the Nova). The Nova is NOT compatible with original AFHDS receivers or the newer AFHDS 3 receivers used by the NB4+ and GT5. Always confirm your receiver supports AFHDS 2A before ordering.
How do I use the FS-i6 Nova as a simulator controller?
Connect the FS-i6 Nova to your PC or Mac using a USB Type-C cable. The transmitter is recognized as a standard USB game controller (HID device) and works with major RC flight simulators including LiftOff, TRYP FPV, Uncrashed, DRL Simulator, and FPV Freerider. No additional drivers or programming cards are needed for simulator use. Simply plug in, select the FS-i6 Nova as your controller in the simulator settings, and calibrate the sticks.
What power options does the FS-i6 Nova support and can I charge a battery inside the transmitter?
The FS-i6 Nova supports two power options: 4 x AA batteries, or a 2S Li-ion or LiPo pack connected via the DuPont/JST power port. Input voltage must be kept within 4-9V DC. Important: the USB Type-C port on the FS-i6 Nova is a multi-function data and power supply port, NOT a charging port. You cannot charge a 2S battery pack through the USB-C port. If you use a rechargeable 2S pack, you must charge it externally with a dedicated balance charger before connecting it to the transmitter.
How does the wireless trainer function work and which transmitters can act as the master?
The FS-i6 Nova supports wireless trainer mode via the FS-WTM01 wireless trainer module (sold separately). In wireless trainer mode, the Nova acts as the student transmitter and connects wirelessly to a master transmitter such as the Flysky PL18 Ultra, PA01, NB4 Pro+, or FS-i6X. The instructor (master) can take over control instantly if the student makes an error, without any physical cable connection between transmitters. The DSC 3.5mm port on the Nova also supports wired trainer mode if you prefer a cable connection.
