    Frequently Asked Questions
What is a coreless motor and why is it better than a standard brushed motor in a servo?

A coreless motor eliminates the iron core found in standard brushed motors, replacing it with a lightweight copper wire winding. This significantly reduces the rotor's rotational inertia, resulting in faster acceleration, quicker response to input changes, and lower heat generation under load. For RC car servos, this translates to sharper steering feel, faster centering, and more consistent performance during extended race sessions compared to standard brushed motor servos.

What RC car types and chassis is the WT80 compatible with?

The WT80 uses a standard full-size servo form factor (40.7 x 20.5 x 38.7mm) and is compatible with most 1/10 scale RC car servo mounts without modification. This includes 1/10 electric touring cars, electric buggies, RC crawlers, and short course trucks. It fits popular chassis from Yokomo, Tamiya, Xray, Team Associated, Traxxas, Axial, and other brands that use standard full-size servo bays. Always verify your chassis servo bay dimensions before purchasing.

What voltage should I run the WT80 at and do I need a special BEC?

The WT80 operates on 6.0V to 8.4V DC. For maximum performance, running at 8.4V (2S LiHV or regulated BEC) delivers peak torque of 35 kg-cm at 0.09 sec/60 degrees. Most modern ESCs with a built-in BEC output 6.0V or 7.4V, which is fully compatible. If your ESC BEC only outputs 6.0V, you will get 23 kg-cm torque - still excellent for most applications. Do not exceed 8.4V to avoid damaging the servo.

How does the WT80 compare to the Power HD GTS Series brushless servos?

The WT80 is a coreless (brushed) digital servo, while the GTS Series uses a brushless motor. The GTS Series offers higher peak torque (30-70 kg-cm depending on model), IP67 waterproofing, and i-BUS2 smart protocol support for real-time parameter adjustment via compatible Flysky transmitters. The WT80 is a more affordable option that still delivers excellent 35 kg-cm torque and fast 0.09 sec response for hobby and club-level racing. If you need waterproofing, brushless efficiency, or i-BUS2 telemetry, the GTS Series is the upgrade path.

Are servo horn and mounting screws included with the WT80?

No. The WT80 package includes the servo body only. Servo horn and mounting screws are not included. Power HD servo arms compatible with the WT80 are available separately in our store. For mounting screws, standard M2 or M3 servo mounting screws (depending on your chassis) are widely available at hobby shops. We recommend purchasing a servo horn set at the same time to ensure you have everything needed for installation.
