Frequently Asked Questions
What is SSR mode and do I need a special receiver to use it?

SSR (Super Speed Response) mode is a high-frequency signal protocol that allows the servo to respond significantly faster than standard PWM. To use SSR mode, you need a compatible high-speed receiver that supports SSR output (such as select Sanwa, Futaba, or compatible receivers). In standard mode, the Storm Series works with any conventional RC receiver at 333Hz - no special hardware required. SSR mode is an optional upgrade for racers who want the absolute fastest response times.

What's the difference between the S15, S25, and S35 - which one is right for my car?

All three models share the same brushless motor, titanium & steel gears, and SSR compatibility, but differ in torque output and physical size. The S15 (16.5KG) is the lightest at 52g and smallest in height (26mm), making it ideal for weight-sensitive 1/10 touring cars and tight chassis. The S25 (30KG) and S35 (35KG) are both 75g with the same footprint (40.7 x 20.5 x 38.6mm) - choose the S25 for a balance of speed and torque, or the S35 for maximum steering authority in competition or aggressive driving.

Are the Storm Series servos compatible with LiPo batteries - what voltage should I run?

Yes. All three Storm Series models operate on 6.0V to 8.4V DC, making them fully compatible with 2S LiPo (7.4V) and 2S LiHV (8.4V) battery systems. Running at higher voltage delivers more torque and faster speed - for example, the S35 jumps from 26.0 kg-cm at 6.0V to 35.0 kg-cm at 8.4V. NiMH packs at 6.0V are also supported. Do not exceed 8.4V to avoid damaging the servo.

How durable are the gears - will they strip under hard racing or bashing use?

The Storm Series uses a Titanium & Steel hybrid gear train, which offers a strong balance of lightweight strength (titanium) and impact resistance (steel). Combined with dual ball bearings and an all-metal case, these servos are built for sustained racing loads. That said, like any precision servo, extreme crashes or binding can cause gear damage. For heavy bashing on rough terrain, we recommend pairing with a servo saver to protect the gear train.

Does the color choice (Red, Yellow, Black) affect performance or specifications?

No - the color variants (Red, Yellow, Black) are purely cosmetic and do not affect performance, torque, speed, or compatibility in any way. All color options within the same model (S15, S25, or S35) share identical internal components and specifications. Choose the color that best matches your chassis or personal style.
