Is the TR4M a true drop-in replacement for the Traxxas 2065T - do I need to modify anything?
Yes, the Power HD TR4M is engineered as a direct drop-in replacement for the Traxxas 2065T steering servo. It shares the same mounting dimensions (22.5 x 12.5 x 24.0mm) and uses a standard JR connector, so it installs directly into the TRX-4M servo bay without any chassis modification. Simply remove the original Traxxas 2065T, plug in the TR4M, and reuse your existing servo horn and mounting screws. No drilling, cutting, or adapter plates required.
Is the TR4M compatible with other RC crawlers beyond the TRX-4M?
Yes. While the TR4M is optimized as a direct replacement for the Traxxas 2065T in the TRX-4M, it is also compatible with the Traxxas TRX-4, Redcat KM5, Axial SCX10, and Axial Capra. For other chassis not listed, please verify your servo bay dimensions against the TR4M's 22.5 x 12.5 x 24.0mm body size before ordering. The standard JR connector ensures compatibility with virtually any RC receiver.
Is the TR4M truly waterproof - can I use it in mud and water?
Yes. The TR4M features a fully sealed waterproof housing designed to protect against water, mud, sand, and trail debris. This makes it well-suited for rock crawling, trail running, and wet-weather bashing where the servo is frequently exposed to the elements. While it handles water splashes and brief submersion during crawling, we recommend avoiding prolonged full submersion to maximize the servo's lifespan.
What voltage should I run the TR4M at for best performance?
The TR4M operates on 4.8V to 7.4V DC. For best performance in crawling applications, running at 6.0V (NiMH or regulated BEC) provides a good balance of torque (3.0 kg-cm) and speed. If your receiver or ESC BEC outputs 7.4V (2S LiPo direct), the TR4M will deliver its maximum 3.2 kg-cm torque for confident steering on technical terrain. Do not exceed 7.4V to avoid damaging the servo.
The servo horn and mounting screws are not included - what do I need?
The TR4M is designed to reuse the servo horn and mounting screws from your existing Traxxas 2065T. Simply transfer the horn and screws from the old servo to the TR4M during installation. If your original hardware is damaged or missing, Traxxas-compatible micro servo horns and M2 mounting screws are widely available from hobby shops. Power HD servo arms compatible with the TR4M are also available separately on our store.
