Description
The CoreWing F405 WING V2 APP is a modular flight-controller kit for fixed-wing aircraft. It combines a flight-controller board, WING PDB PLUS power board, top board, and Wireless USB Expansion Board PRO. Three independent BECs, extensive peripheral connections, and wired or wireless configuration make it a practical foundation for fixed-wing FPV builds. Supported VTOL configurations require suitable firmware and correct aircraft setup.
Contents
Key Features
- 🔋 Three independent BECs: Separate power rails for the flight-control system, VTX/camera, and servos, with selectable outputs where specified.
- 📱 Wired and wireless configuration: Wireless USB Expansion Board PRO supports BLE, Wi-Fi AP, Wi-Fi STA, and wired USB-C connections.
- 🎛️ VTX power control: Disable video-transmitter power during bench setup to reduce unnecessary heating.
- 🧩 Layered modular construction: Separate power, flight-control, and wireless modules simplify installation and maintenance.
- 🔌 Peripheral expansion: Connections for GPS, receivers, video systems, airspeed sensors, and custom wiring via reserved solder pads.
- 🛠️ INAV and ArduPilot: Factory INAV firmware, with a matching ArduPilot target available as described in the product documentation.
Four Version Options
BMI270 — Unsoldered Pins
BMI270 IMU with pin headers left unsoldered for a custom installation.
BMI270 — Straight Pins Soldered
BMI270 IMU with straight pin headers pre-soldered.
ICM42688 — Unsoldered Pins
ICM-42688-P IMU with pin headers left unsoldered.
ICM42688 — Straight Pins Soldered
ICM-42688-P IMU with straight pin headers pre-soldered.
The confirmed differences are IMU model and header-soldering status. Neither IMU option is presented as a guarantee of better flight performance. The soldered versions do not include the 90° PWM header.
BMI270 vs ICM42688 Comparison
Swipe left or right on smaller screens to compare both sensors.
| Item | BMI270 (Bosch) | ICM-42688-P (TDK InvenSense) |
|---|---|---|
| Type | 6-axis IMU (gyro + accelerometer) | 6-axis IMU (gyro + accelerometer) |
| Market Positioning | Consumer-grade (smartphones, wearables) | Flagship industrial-grade |
| Gyroscope Range | ±2000 dps | ±2000 dps |
| Accelerometer Range | ±16g | ±16g |
| Max Gyro Output Data Rate (ODR) | 6.4 kHz (cannot run full 8K mode) | 32 kHz (runs 8K mode with ease) |
| Noise / Vibration Immunity | Average; higher noise in high-vibration setups | Lowest noise in the FPV market; better vibration and EMI immunity |
| Cost | Lower | Higher |
| Best For | Fixed-wing, low-vibration builds | Quadcopters, high-vibration builds |
| Fixed-Wing Performance | Virtually identical to ICM-42688-P | Virtually identical to BMI270 |
| Firmware Support | INAV/ ArduPilot / Betaflight | INAV / ArduPilot / Betaflight |
Bottom line: For fixed-wing use, the BMI270 version performs the same — save the money. For multirotors or high-vibration builds, the ICM-42688-P is worth the extra cost.
CoreWing vs SpeedyBee Comparison
The original comparison graphic below compares CoreWing F405 WING V2 with SpeedyBee F405 WING APP. It is retained as supplied reference material, not an independently verified competitor specification sheet.
Power and BECs
The supplied chart lists 10–28 V (3–6S) input for CoreWing versus 7–36 V (2–6S) for SpeedyBee. It lists CoreWing continuous FC/video/servo BEC outputs of 4 A / 2 A / 8 A versus 2.4 A / 1.8 A / 4.5 A respectively for SpeedyBee. These rail ratings should not be treated as a guarantee of better flight performance.
Wiring and firmware
The chart shows different firmware targets and UART assignments. For CoreWing it lists USART1 for the wireless board, USART6 for the receiver, USART3 for VTX, and USART5 for GPS; for SpeedyBee it lists USART6, USART1, USART5, and USART3 respectively. Do not copy another board's wiring or firmware settings without checking its manual.
Video power and wireless configuration
The chart lists VTX power switching for CoreWing and not for the compared SpeedyBee board. It shows a wireless USB expansion board for CoreWing and a top-plate wireless module for SpeedyBee. Wireless mode and feature availability must be checked against current hardware and firmware documentation; the distance figures shown are not guaranteed ranges.
Important: The two PDB power-pin orders differ. Do not interchange their power boards.

Specifications
Flight Controller
MCU: STM32F405, 168 MHz, 1 MB Flash.
IMU: BMI270 or ICM-42688-P, according to version.
Barometer: SPA06-003.
Analog OSD: AT7456E.
UARTs: Six: USART1 connects to the wireless board; USART2, USART3, UART4, UART5, and USART6 provide the remaining serial connections.
I²C: One interface for compatible compass and digital airspeed sensors.
ADC: Four inputs for voltage, current, RSSI, and analog airspeed.
PWM: 12 outputs: 11 routed to pin headers and one shared with the LED signal output.
ELRS/CRSF: Supported on USART6.
SBUS: Onboard inverter connected to USART2 RX.
RSSI: Dedicated solder pad.
Status LEDs: Blue and green status LEDs plus a 3.3 V power LED.
Firmware: INAV and ArduPilot, using the matching CoreWing F405 WING V2 target.
Blackbox Storage
MicroSD: SDSC and SDHC supported; SDXC not supported. The specification image lists 4–32 GB capacity with FAT16/FAT32 formatting, but explicitly states that INAV recognizes only 4 GB cards and does not support larger capacities. Follow this firmware-specific restriction rather than assuming every listed capacity works in INAV.

FC BEC: 5.2 V ±0.1 V, 4 A continuous / 5 A peak.
VTX/camera BEC: Default 9 V ±0.1 V; selectable 5/9/12 V via solder jumper, 2 A continuous / 3 A peak.
Servo BEC: Default 5 V ±0.1 V; selectable 5/6/7.2 V via solder jumper, 8 A continuous / 14 A peak.
Wireless USB Expansion Board PRO
The specification image lists CoreWing App, SpeedyBee App, and INAV Configurator for BLE; SpeedyBee App, INAV Configurator, Mission Planner, and QGroundControl for Wi-Fi AP/STA. Hold BOOT for approximately six seconds to change wireless mode. Four RGB LEDs indicate battery level.
Supported functions depend on firmware, app version, and connection mode. A detail image reports a tested wireless tuning distance exceeding 30 m; the comparison graphic separately states tuning within 50 m. Actual range varies with installation and surroundings, and neither figure is a guaranteed operating distance.
Dimensions & Weight
52 × 32 mm footprint; approximately 17 mm body thickness and 18 mm including protruding parts, as shown in the dimensional drawing. Weight: 40 g including Wireless USB Expansion Board PRO.

Installation Notes
Do not interchange power boards: CoreWing F405 WING V2 and SpeedyBee F405 WING APP use different PDB power-pin orders.
Before powering the system, verify battery voltage, wiring polarity, pin order, and each BEC output. Set voltage-selection jumpers to match the connected equipment. Matching connector shapes do not guarantee matching pinouts.
Wireless tuning is for ground configuration, not a replacement for the RC control link. Before the first flight, complete sensor calibration, control-surface direction checks, output assignment, and failsafe setup. VTOL requires a compatible aircraft, firmware, and configuration; it is not an automatic plug-and-fly function.
